The cleaning of old tapestries is a very delicate operation to preserve the conservation of the colours of the tapestry.
First of all, we analyse the fragile parts of the tapestry (damaged silk fibre, torn weaving relays, etc,) and we make a conservation (tulle cloths are sewn behind the tapestry to reinforce, consolidate areas considered fragile) and protect the silk or wool fibres before the cleaning procedure.
Once the old tapestry has been split and protected, we start the dusting procedure, this delicate operation is carefully done by hand. This step is very important because the dust that gets into the weavings over the years ends up having a harmful chemical action by destroying and breaking the fibres.
Then begins the 100/100 cleaning by hand using only natural and organic products, like the other time.
Our technique of cleaning old tapestry is unique to us, it is the result of work and research for three generations.
Your antique aubusson tapestries are rare and exceptional pieces, only experienced and qualified specialists can guarantee you the right result.
