A finely woven Brussels tapestry in wool, silk and silver thread circa 1700, part of the Four Continents hangings.
From the second half of the seventeenth century onwards, the general public was already showing a certain craze for exotic and distant continents.
This passion inspired many cardboard painters who transposed, according to their imagination, the little known themes of the New World. Van Schoor in particular interpreted them several times.
