La Lèpre du Temps - Claire Rado
Claire Rado's tapestry workshop, once nestled in Suresnes, was a true breeding ground for works of art where threads were woven into stories with passion and ingenuity. One particularly remarkable piece, adorned with the artist's signature ribbon and titled "The Leprosy of Time," embodied the quintessence of her talent and artistic vision.
It was in 1964 that Claire Rado, in this creatively charged workshop, breathed life into her first tapestry. Exhibited thereafter at the Galerie La Demeure, this piece was much more than a mere assemblage of threads; it was a reflection of the artistic soul of its creator. Rado went so far as to weave her own cartoons, thus expressing total mastery of the creative process.
Much like the great masters Daquin and Coffinet, Claire Rado didn't hesitate to transcend the boundaries of originality by also transposing the works of other artists, including the renowned Soulages. However, she stamped each creation with her own imprint, skillfully merging external inspirations with personal visions.
