Tapestry "L'Opérateur ou la Curiosité" from the Hanging Fêtes Italiennes, also known as Fêtes de village à l'italienne, by François Boucher (1703-1770), Beauvais manufactory under the direction of Nicolas Besnier (1734-1753), bears the inscription at the bottom of the weave Boucher 1737. The appendix of Italian Festivals includes other subjects: La Bohème, The Hunters, The Fisherman, The Girls with the Grapes, The Dance, The Snack, The Music, The Gardener, The Shepherdess, The Cabaret Singer, The Parrot, The Merchant of Eggs. A tapestry with the same subject is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Gift of Ann Payne Robertson 64.145.1. This has a card with the inscription Pourtalès.
