A 20th-century Aubusson tapestry, finely woven in wool and silk on cotton, featuring a delightful motif depicting a game of hopscotch and the picking of fruits. A true gem of the Noble Pastoral Tapestry, this piece adds a touch of medieval elegance to any space. This tapestry is part of a series of three pieces commonly known as The Noble Pastoral Tapestry: "pastoral" because it depicts various activities of shepherds and shepherdesses, and "noble" because it mainly portrays young lords and ladies of the nobility playing the role of shepherds. These "shepherdries" were highly fashionable in late medieval Europe, as they were both eminently decorative and less costly to produce than large historical suites.
