Finely woven silk tapestry from the Aubusson Manufacture. Around 1775-1780. This tapestry with a red background, lined with palm trees and garlands of flowers has for register "The dance for two" of the Tapestry of the Pastorals after Huet, Jean-Baptiste (known as the Elder).

The work of Jean-Baptiste Huet is very characteristic of the pastoral art of the 18th century and marks the last fires of the rococo style in an era already dominated by neoclassical taste. / Huet's participation in the conception of a kind and colorful art, characteristic of the Age of Enlightenment, is revealed in an ensemble whose realization almost symbolically associates him with Boucher and Jean-Honoré Fragonard: it is about of a decoration, now kept at the Carnavalet Museum in Paris, for the house of the engraver Gilles Demarteau, his friend. Flowers and animals invade rustic and vaporous landscapes. One finds on the "Pastorales with blue draperies and arabesques" an echo of such floral and animal decorations, in particular in the surroundings.
