Origine: Aubusson by Prassions
Considered one of the great painters of his generation, Mario Prassinos has divided his time between Paris and Provence. From the beginning, the theme of the tree has been part of his universe. It recurs as a leitmotif, from the labyrinth of twisted branches in his very first painting, Scarabée d'or, to the phantasmagorical clearings in Les Supplices, passing through the Cypresses of Spetsai and the Turkish Gardens, memories of the Ottoman plains of his childhood and those of the surroundings of Paris. Stripped trees, groves of trees or dark forests, "majestic population", he writes, that he offers to the eyes of visitors.
