Tapestry known as Aristoloche Oudenaarde Period early 16th century. The tapestry of greenery with large leaves introduced a not only three-dimensional but also naturalistic aspect. This aspect is reinforced by the introduction of birds and occasionally mythological animals but more rarely human figures. The predominant view is that of an untamed nature which man has not yet disturbed; an image that is both fascinating but also dreamlike and undoubtedly emblematic of the Garden of Eden.
