Tapestry of the Royal Manufactory of Beauvais from the Louis XVI period, circa 1780
This rare Beauvais tapestry, finely woven in wool and silk with flower bouquets decorated in blue ribbon frames on a yellow background, was very fashionable in the 18th century, as it corresponded to Queen Marie-Antoinette's taste.
Indeed, the queen appreciated bouquets of flowers such as lilacs, ribbons and peacock feathers, as can be seen in the drawings for the design of the ceremonial chamber in Versailles in 1786, or on the summer furniture in 1787.
